National Candy Corn Night

Did anyone else know there is a National Candy Corn Day? Am I the only one who did not know about this? Has anyone else eaten waaaayyyy too much candy corn in the past week?

Just me, then. *blurg*

We had National Candy Corn Night at LOGOS October 30, and Karelyn Donahue made cupcakes for dessert. Not that unusual, right? But our Karelyn is a clever lady - look!

Okay, you may have to turn your computer - or even your head - to see this properly. I love this! Karelyn and Darren are turning out to be two of the greatest assets to our LOGOS Staff. This is the first year for both of them in an official capacity and we are so blessed they are with us every week. Darren grilled hamburgers for dinner for us on his own grill. It was so wonderful to get out of the car and smell that smell - there's just something festive about the aroma of hamburgers grilling. I knew our night would be fun!

And it was! I really cannot speak to much of what happened other than recreation/play because we had such a ball that I can only remember that! We started out playing "Musical Costumes" which I had to adapt to "obscure line from a Shakespeare play* because I forgot to bring music - oops!" costumes.
After we dressed up for Halloween, costumes got in the way and were quickly shed as we played Indoor Snowball Fight...

.....and then moved on to Paper Shoot....

...and ended our time with an astonishing game of Bite the Bag.

Cole Downing won our contest and I was amazed to see how calm, deliberate, and flexible that boy is! Jared and I dropped out fairly early on (Okay, I admit that for me it was RIGHT AWAY) but...

... Ashley held on almost to the end. She is one determined young lady!

Her little brother Jackson got involved toward the end and because he starts out so close to the ground, he had a bit of an advantage. Yet, even with that advantage, no one was able to compete with Cole's yoga/zen-like purposefulness! Congrats, Cole!!
~You will be mine. Mine you will be.~

Tonight is Mexican Fiesta night and the High School group is going to spend the evening at Kim Peacock's home. I'll ask Meredith to take her camera to that and hopefully we'll have some pictures for the blog tonight.

*Can anyone guess what play and what line I may have used for a Halloween game???? Answer in the comments! Which means I need to go look it up....
